Recently had a service (a month ago) and had a new clutch last year and while out for the weekend to Derbyshire (typical) the clutch suddenly felt very spongy. There’s plenty of fluid so do t think it needs bleeding. Anybody got any ideas. Anything I can do while out or is it a garage job?

Thanks.

Sounds like the slave cylinder might have died... Similar thing happened to me. All very sudden.

I suggest you get into it pronto as you don't want oil reaching the clutch. Not a big job. Bit fiddly. 2-3hrs depending. You'll have to unbolt it to take a look and confirm, so I'd also suggest just having a new one on the ready as it'll probably go it if hasn't already!

Also if you are running the original rubber hose, they are known for rusting through at the slave cylinder due the the rubber sleeve retaining water.
Best this to do is to whip off the rear wheel and have a close look around the slave

The clutch failed about 15 miles from home (after 100 miles from the Peak District) so I think it sounds like the slave. Thanks for the tips.
