I never use the rear seat on my bike, so when I was looking for somewhere to carry those bits that you may need and don't want to put in your top box. I started to look for storage that used the rear seat. I looked at an expensive American unit and also plates that replaced the seat ( then fix a peli box to it) . The American unit looked good but was silly money and the peli box idea looked like a plastic box bolted onto a plate.
Then I found the SportBox, so I contacted Rugged Roads and asked them if they would get one for me. They did not stock them, but would get one with their next order.

The box locks into place using the rear seat lock. Unlock it and the lid comes off. It comes with a foam insert to stop things rattling around, if you take the insert out it increases the storage. I have got a waterproof suit and my tyre repair kit and pump. Now if I want to I can forget about my luggage, just use this to carry my emergency kit. So far I am very pleased with it, it's not a replacement for my top box, but it is a very useful addition. I know I could have got one of the Raid boxes, but I was looking for something that was waterproof and was easier to access. It won't be to everyone's taste, but then we are all different.
I have no connection with RuggedRoads, other than when I asked them if they could get it for me they did, so I said I would put it on the site for them when I got time.

A QD plate (Givi maybe?) and Peli case make a lot of sense and would look fine IMHO.

For the backwoods look an ammo case could be cool.

I bought the American rear seat box and it is expensive. It is actually bigger than I really wanted , if I had seen this , I may have went for it, Seems ideal for the emergency bits 'n pieces....
