Spotlight bulb quandary

One of my bulbs has blown on my 2010 GSA spotlight.

How do I remove the bulb from the holder or is it on of those which you have to purchase the whole bulb, connector and fly lead?

Also, where will I purchase a replacement.

Bulb should just pull out of holder.

I mean which bunch of fuckwits would design it so that you've got to replace the wiring too when there's nothing wrong with it.

The OP's bulb is an HID burner. It will have an integral mount of some sort.

The OEM spots are auxiliary head lights to support the woefully awful headlight. (Awful with ordinary halogen)

Put H7 LEDs (with Phillips led emitters) in the headlight and you won't need the back up spots.
You can then fit some long range spots to properly light unlit roads.

LED spots are cheap enough to be disposable. The OEM lights can go on the shelf until you sell the bike.

They are just a H11 fitting for the older halogen lamps. Snooty's are Xenon.

These should fit but at the equivalent of 120watts each they'll over light the foreground leaving you riding into what feels like a black hole.

Well that was my thought but I have grasped the bulb tightly and given it a good pull but it shows no sign of budging.

They sent me an alternative as my aftermarket bars were not suited to the Jaws lock - haven't fitted it yet.

Thanks for the suggestions for replacement bulbs but I still need an insight into how to remove the blown one

I appreciate they are not burners but I'm hoping they'll work to make the spotlights a bit brighter as they look dull in comparison to my HID dip

In reply to your query about your bulb not working, are you sure its the bulb and not the ballast, the bulbs don't very often fail but the ballasts do,
If it is the bulb and if it is a 55w bulb I may have a spare in the garage, I've had a couple of ballasts or starters go and have replaced the whole kit as they are quite cheap now,
Trace the wires back to where they plug in and swap it over to the other side, if it works its most probably your ballast that has failed,
You could plug your working bulb into the this side and if it doesn't work it's definitely your ballast,

Oops, mea culpa

I missed the fact that they're hids.

In which case it is a complete unit. I agree, plug it into the otherside and see if it sparks up.

More likely to be the ballast though. I'm running hids on dip/main and led's in the auxiliaries.

Anything that aids the maturer eyes see us coming !

Thanks Gazza, I will swap it with the working one and see what happens.

My HID-50 headlight bulbs/burners failed but ballasts were fine. For the small additional cost I went for LED bulbs.
