put a pair of spots on my 1150gs wired to come on with my dip,55watts each from halfords works fine apart from a nearly flat battery after a 25 mile spin, disconnected one spot and rode home, battery a bit stronger but not by much. it wired through a relay so now im lost, any ideas where im going wrong.

If you've tried the usual stuff like battery connections and alternator output, then I'd suspect a bad battery.

Others will doubtless have other good ideas!

I agree with Matt

if the charging system is working correctly a pair of spotlights should not cause it a problem at all. Assuming that the belt is tensioned correctly & the alternator is not fooked then a dodgy battery would be my first suspect. Try not using the lights for a bit and see if there is a difference, do the lights dim on tickover and brighten up with increased revs? If they do that might point to a charging problem, check the battery voltage if possible with a meter at about 3000 rpm and with the engine off. There should not be more than a couple of volts difference depending on the load applied and what model you have?

Hope this helps

Id agree its most likely the battery. I have a 1150gsa 2004 and regularly run gps, fogs, spots, ipod, heated gloves and autocom at the same time with absolutely no problems at all. All connected via a bluesea aux fuse panel.

new battery and alternator in the last few months so not that i think, earth wire connected to the negative, live to the plus, one wire going to the spots and the last one connected to the dip light wire by crimp,no battery light comes on at tickover or at speed,
