Spring-Loaded Front Footpegs............??

Does anyone know if the problem with cracks to the footpegs only affects the black ones...........??

The black are just black in colour, so any structural integrity will be the same as non-black.

I have the black and have read issues with these, but not a regular stander upper. If I was, I would swerve them.

I may be wrong but those reporting issues all semed to have the black colour, which could suggest that it was a particular batch. FWIW, had my gold colour ones for 2 years and had no issues as yet.

Never seen a cracked gold set, heat or chemical treatment to make them black may be the problem?

Would be useful to understand from the guys with broken pegs whether they did a lot of offroading. It's hard to imagine them breaking in normal road use when there's hardly any weight on them.

Balls. Sold DR268 my gold set and bought a brand new black set off eBay with no receipt!!! Does this mean they will be scrap? Anybody with black ones that haven’t cracked?

No standing up on mine, except for the odd gonad straightening. They were brand new from Bahnstormers, so not a knockoff set and less than a year old. They had probably covered around 4000 on road miles. The cracks are hard to see, until they fail. It is as if disimilar metal corrosion is forcing the metal to split, but when I stripped mine down, there was no sign of any corrosion. See this thread https://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/512828-A-little-bit-of-bling

Cracking on mine aside, I wouldn't fit them again, as the adjustment range did not make enough difference for me to justify the price. The left handside could be adjusted to the lower hole, and the gear lever to suit it. But, the brake lever on the righthand side, made it uncomfortable on the lowest setting. I have indeed up fitting Wunderlich peg rubbers to prevent my boots getting chewed up.

Unless they where fitted by the dealer or receipt of purchase which I did I think you will be lucky my pals went in the bin mine had to be fitted back onto the bike I had sold them a week earlier so they could take pictures BMW know there is a problem like a lot of people I stand on the pegs when getting on but should be stronger than that

Not conclusive but for balance I had a black set on my 1200GS for just over a year and checked them when I saw the previous thread. They were fine. I’ll see how well the new pair fares...

I concur....black one's have 3 settings
top one same height as originals then 10mm steps downwards
Also found that the lowest setting causes my foot to foul the sidestand deployment lug when going to change gear up
I have lodged a complaint to BMW about this as the bloody things are sold as adjustable in 3 positions but can't really use the lowest. Apparently they have received previous complaints about this
See what happens...not holding my breath
Pegs are really good especially when stood up
6100 miles on them no cracking...bought and fitted by BMW dealer at 1st service
