have an 05 servo assisted model that I have ridden through winter with regular cleaning ( so of just like clean bikes), but just recently the front brakes have started to squeal when applied hard or for a long time, sound awful, but stops just as well, seems to be more from the left handside caliper than anywhere else, wont dont it at standstill, I have checked the pads which seem okay, no warning lights or loss of breaking, just sounds awful and annoying, like riding a classic. Is it a case of a good clean and copperslip up or is it something worse, the bike is still under warranty but dealer is 40 odd miles away so if its something simple Ill try it, cheers Nobby:):thumb2

There's a dealer fix for this. I had it on my 05 GS. It involves replacing the washers on the retaining bolts.

If you search this site you should find the actual BMW notice to dealers - which is a good thing to have as my dealer initially refused to accept there was a warranty issue on this problem.
