ss brake hose

I want to replace the rubber brake hoses with stainless steel ones on my 1100 and found Goodridge and Venhill ss kits.
Can anyone tell which is better: Venhill or Goodridge ?

Whichever is cheapest i reckon, they are pretty much identical mate.

I personally would never pay for branded braided lines. I get my local trader to make them up to the correct length and fitting i want on the end for half the price!

Don't know which is better, but I'd get ones with stainless end fittings.

You can get ones with different fittings for various prices,

From cadmium - typically £10 per line

To titatium - around £40 a line

Carbon lines are becoming popular for their lightweight on sportsbikes but i wouldnt bother.

There probably isn't much difference between makes - I wanted stainless fittings with mine though and so paid a bit more for the privilege - online prices are nearly always for 'alloy' fittings.

fancy weight saving fittings are completely wasted on these bikes.

Ref carbon lines and titanium fittings: I really don't want anything fancy, just want to change my old rubber lines and if I could find a cheap and reliable replacement it would be great. I could not find anything cheaper than 80 £ per kit (4 lines since mine is without abs) so if you can point me to another vendor cheaper than Venhill or Goodridge I will be more than grateful.

http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/ are the guys i use. Not sure if they ship to romania or not though? Have you tried your local motorcycle mechanic? They can usually make some up.

Yeah the 4 lines make it an expensive option doesnt it.

I want lines on mine, purely to get rid of all that rubbish on the front. Ill be hooking up a single long line from the master cylinder and a short line from one caliper to the other and thats it.

ye need good brakes in Romania

id stick with goodridge if its the only supplier ye can get ,make sure ye get the matching banjo bolts to fit the lines, regular bolts are longer , ye will have problems fitting em , using extra washer makes ye brakes weaker..

why i know i tried it , the banjo on the goodridge is thinner than regular fittings , they know how to get ye to spend more money..

None whatsoever.

I replaced mine as the bike has lived its entire life outside and the warning about the possible failure of one of the front lines was definitely at the back of my mind.

Even without the warning I think expecting rubber to last 10 years exposed to the weather with no problems at all is at the very least - optimistic.

i'd mostly go along with that. at least it doesn't seem to increase the braking power in any way i can use.

but i have put braided lines on some older bikes, and it's spoiled the feel of the brakes for me. maybe it makes wooden brakes more wooden? maybe i like a slightly softer feel?

I'll just re-inforce what the previous couple of posters have said.

When people do notice a difference it's just due to the fact that the brakes have been bled properly for the first time , and nothing to do with the actual fitting of braided hoses.
