Having just finished the "pen a sword" book "Operation Chariot" and saw the Jeremy Clarkson "greatest Raid" programme I really would like to go and see the port for my self.
Has anyone been there?

Hi Onahi,

I went there some years ago with my wife on route back up the coast. I was on my trusty old R100RT. If you are interested in Submarines, as I am, you will find it fascinating. If I remember correctly they filmed some of the german film 'Das Boot' there. There is a huge concrete submarine bomb shelter and you could still see holes from attacks that took place on them. I expect it will still look the same in a few hundred years because there is one hell of lot of thick concrete. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. :thumb2

Was there a few years ago, they have an old French sub of a type similar to WW2 era subs moored there as a museum exhibit, talk about claustrophobic !!
and very sobering when you imagine what it must have been like for sailors being submerged listening to depth bombs going off around you .... and getting closer ..
