I bought this bike from a chap on here last year. Only used it a few times and it rides really well. However, I have a 1300GS ASA which is just brilliant, so I find that I’ll not use the R80 (and I’m short on space) so decided to sell it. Asking £4,500
Here’s the details from the previous owner:
1984 registered (“historic” status)
BMW R80ST . Original matching frame and engine numbers ( BMW stopped doing this from 1985 I believe)
Special…see below why I call it special.
R100GS paralever front forks ( better quality than the earlier g/s forks, )
R100GS paralever top and bottom yokes ( again better than the earlier bikes)
R100GS front wheel ( to fit with the forks etc)
R1150GS four piston front brake, with braided stainless steel brake line. ( it actually stops well!)
R80g/s headlight nacelle fitted with Acewell CA85 electronic speedometer ( multi function, and a good British company)
Warning lights are Katdash LED , so won’t need to change bulbs.
Petrol tank is R100R, 24 litres, so more range.
R80g/s single seat and rack, or dual seat with rear rack that can be fitted.
Siebenrock SG2 stainless steel full exhaust system.
Migsel stainless side stand.
Q-tech lowered riders footpegs, and Wonderlich gear lever.
Clutch replaced last year, new timing chain fitted.
Spotlights, and LED running light through a Healtech thunderbox electric controller, switched live, so they cannot be left on.
Oxford heated grips ( also through switched live).
Stainless steel siebenrock engine bars.
Seperate choke levers on carbs.
Shock factory m-shock rear shock absorber
Front forks have hyperpro progressive springs fitted.
New wiring loom, as original 40 year old loom was starting to break down.
Thunderchild diode board.
Wedgetail electronic ignition.
Barkbusters handguards
Saddle bag not included.
Rear Paniers included.
“I have owned this bike for ten years, and done the upgrades over time. Bike runs beautifully and is a one-off.
ST as a base for what a r80g/s could be modified to, but then it’d ruin the value of a standard g/s”.
