I have a 2001 GS in bits at the moment, waiting on a new clutch hose and slave cylinder. I was thinking of fitting the adventure hose, given that it's stainless, and the master and slave cylinders are the same on both bikes. And it's cheaper, albeit only by four quid. However, the local dealership seems to think that the stainless hose won't fit. Why is this, or are they talking b******s?

Hi my 2004 adv came with a black plastic hose, which the ferrules rusted away, i changed it to the adventure stainless item with new copper washers from motorworks , no problem and it was cheaper.

Thank you for replying Paul, but I'm still a little  - I'm hoping this will fit to my standard bike, as well as the adventure. Can I make this work? What are the differences? (apart from the braided stainless bit, of course.)

I had some stainless braided hose made a while ago. Available any length you like. Also has some banjo bolts made with a flat hex head, so you can tighten them easily from behind the rear shock if they come loose, which they're prone to do. If you've the BM banjo bolts you need to lift the airbox  or make a short allen key and remove the rear shock or slave cylinder.

The whole kit should be about £35 - It's just undergoing development :rob

That would be perfect :thumb but it needs to be back on the road this weekend :( so I'm going to have to pass this time. I was thinking of fitting the genuine adventure hose - the one described as "Stahlflex", by which I assumed it was braided stainless. It seems on the face of it that it would be a better bet than the water-trap hose that's currently on there. Thing is, I got a :nono from the boys at the dealership, which I didn't understand. Will the ADV part fit?
