Hi,

I am currently looking around for exhausts, i have used staintune in the past and have always been very happy with them on honda xr's. I am interested to know if anyone has put one on a 1200 adv.
Does it fit in ok with the standard paniers and rack?
Being stainless steel does it store up more heat than the standard one etc (someone at a dealership for competing products told me that and i am not convinced).. If it does build up heat do I need to insulate the pannier on that side?

Any advice would be great.

Regards,

Jimmy

Thanks for the info, didn't know that Staintune made headers for the 1200 till I read your post. I'm gonna sneak a set onto my GS once I get her across to Perth, WA next month. I just hope my Scorpion end can still fits afterwards.

Just don't tell the missus.;)

Just fitted the Staintune slip-on on my GS on the weekend. All quality kit and went on easily. It is an oval shape and takes up less room than the standard muffler so don't think heat on the panniers will be an issue. It doesn't come anywhere near the number plate either but we have smaller plates here in Oz than you guys. With the restrictor in place it is not really louder than standard but does sound better. With it out, it is still not what you could call loud but does sound like a proper motorcycle, not a pregnant cow farting. Just has a nice deep note under acceleration and very quiet on a steady throttle so it doesn't get annoying. Seems to rev a lot easier through the mid range but might be a little fluffy off idle. Saving for the headers now. :thumb2

Can time the bounce now, BTBR.

I only fitted the slip-on muffler at this stage. The headers discard the cat and are larger in diameter than the standard ones. The muffler was $725 landed in Mackay and the headers are the same price as far as I can tell.
