Stalling and Questionable Upgrades

I realise there are a number of threads relating to stalling but by posting my thread I am hoping to consolidate them for my benefit and the benefit of others.

I have a F800GS (08) with only 800 miles on it, bought as an Approved Used Bike from a dealership.

On Friday, within 200 miles I was suffering from stalling at low revs and when changing down a gear (as per many of the threads). Despite the bike being an AUB the BMW dealership I took it to (a different one to the one I bought it from) said that the software update had not been installed. Upon checking the dealer from which i bought it claimed they had installed it. I collected my now upgraded bike today, expecting everything to by fine.

However, today after 100 miles the problem returned but more severely: stalling while idling but also completely losing power despite being at 4000rpm and accelerating. My questions are thus:

1) Has anyone ever heard of the bikes computer rejecting software, which may be what has appeared to have happened (twice)?

2) What other possible reasons (if the software upgrade is correctly installed) could cause power/throttle failure and and stalling at low revs?

3) It would be helpful to me if someone could list of all upgrades/recalls which should have been completed on my bike (as an AUB) so I can challenge the original dealer.

I have nearly come off my bike twice in 3 days due to power failure and am losing confidence in both the dealerships and the bike.

Thank you,

Don't know about the software update, usually computers 'read-back' the data so the system knows it's gone in.

You could try turning the tickover up, by winding out the slack in the throttle cable.

Hello Gordonsweny, welcome to the forums.

Mine also you to stall leaving junctions. Quite disturbing, but once the bikes warmed up. It never use to stall (way back in the under 10k bracket). So just give it more rev's before setting off.

Your still running it in 'is what I think'. 22k milage :hide
