I was supposed to be somewhere in Georgia at this very moment, however due to the following last minute problems I had to resort to plan B (2 weeks at the summer house putting on weight
)
Ok, so last Thursday when returning home from work I had a rather dangerous encounter when attempting to pass a van on the m.way. I cant rember what gear I was in but travelling at about 2-3k revs...gave it beans to pass and the engine went dead. When I say dead it didn't stall...just didn't want to go. The revs dropped all the way & I could hear spluttering from the exhaust. Also, when in neutral the bike stalled when warm. I called my mechanic & he advised I being her in.
En route I discovered that this problem was happening when in third & fourth after approx 5k revs. I noticed that dropping down or shifting up 'sorted' the problem as I was able to ride on as normal. I wasn't on a stretch suitable for 5/6th so not sure if it happened in those gears.
After various checks the plugs were changed & I gave it a whirl...whoopee I thought as the misfire had gone...however, 5 minutes into the ride the bike started stalling again. No probs with the high revs like before though.
What was checked after...
- Hall sensor
- Valve clearance
- Coil plugs
- plugged into the computer checker thing
- idle adjusted when warm...two pipes plugged under the heads & the thermometer thing used
- I'll write whatever else was done if anything that I can't remember now
Other threads suggest the lambda probe...can I simply remove mine in order to have a look? Any advice on this fecking annoying issue appreciated...cheers
ps. the bike is a well mainted '03 model with 60k kms and had it's last full service just over 1000kms ago...
