Standard rear shock absorber adjustment

Now then

I have recently put my standard units back on the 1150 but cannot recall what the two lower adjustments on the rear are for.

There are two flat headed screwdriver adjustments. One either side.

If any one can tell me which does what and what the standard settings should be I shall be grateful.

Damping screw

The one on the right side of the bike is staked in and cannot be moved.
The one on the left (exhaust) side is the rebound damping adjustment.
Screwed in fully clockwise and back out half a turn is the standard setting.
If you are a pie eater or carry a pillion or luggage then you will be winding up the pre load with your remote hydraulic pre load adjuster, this will in turn require you to screw in the rebound damping adjuster screw so that it will be less than one half out.
This will incease the rebound damping to cope with the increased preload setting.
Clockwise=more rebound damping
Counter clockwise=less rebound damping.

I too would like to know what the adjuster on the right side of the rear shock is for, ( IE Non exhaust side ) Mine is definately not fixed and has a range of adjustment of approx 1.5 turns in and out. Anyone throw any light on this?

Possibly compression damping adjuster, factory-set and peened-over to stop meddling?

I think you may be correct No6, probably should be factory set, what threw me is that where yours is fixed in position with what looks like random pop marks, mine has 4 slotted marks at the 12 - 3 - 6 - and 9 o clock positions making them look like alignment marks, that and the fact that it moves quite freely! anyroadup as yours is locked in the fully out position thats where I shall set mine to, Cheers mate.
