hi all, i was wondering what the circular metal gizmo was just above where the inlet pipe connects to the standard silencer.
some models dont seem to have one fitted???

Exhaust/flappy valve. It's only on the twin cam bikes and newer. They seem to be a pain in the rear and fail a lot.

flappy valve correct, but ive had 5 twin cams and never had one fail, all ridden through the winter and never a problem

Maybe someone has fitted a complete TC system. Interchangeable if you fit the whole system.
If you're still worried post a picture and we'll have a look. You've got us intrigued now.

sorry, should have posted a pic earlier.

the round thingy has nothing connected to it??

Blimey. They only came out in 2010. How'd you get through that many in such a short time?

I don't know what it is but the first 1200GSs all had it from 2004 - 2006. 2007 models onwards don't have it.

Early version of Flappy valve If I recall from my training

Was something like an Exup valve allegedly to provide More back pressure and allegedly torque at Low RPM

Which is about the only change from having the Full Remus fitted Slightly More revs are required to pull away (seems to have lost a Little of the "Grunt" but once moving the Remus is Superior in all ways
