Has anyone got them?
Are they any good?
Is there anywhere in the U.K that supplies them and how much?

MiGSel has a set on his GSA. I don't know how much they are but I seem to remember they were not cheap by any shade of the imagination. Do they work ? I reckon so, MiGSel has the misfortune to closely inspect some French diesel on a roundabout on the way back from the Pyrenees a few weeks ago. The head guards did a good job and were only cosmetically damaged.

Yes, I have them. They work!!!

If I didn't have them on, I would have been stuck out in the Arizona wastelands with a nice hole in my valve cover (with no JB Weld on hand).

Jim, himself, was impressed with how well they held up. He was riding behind me and watched me take the dive that did the above damage.

I wish I could tell you how to get them on your side of the pond. Have you written Jim asking if he ships overseas?

Excellent product - worth the $$$. I prefer them to crash bars which can mangle legs...
If you graunch the Stantons all that is needed is some spot putty, a rub down and a rattle can and they are like new again ... not quite so easy IRO valve covers!

Havn't got crashbars, but I think I fancy these :nod

How much and where then

Thanks all !

JimJIb on ADVrider makes and sells them.

Been searching over there, they are about £130-140 to buy over there, so they are not cheap but they do the job. I don't realy want crash bars and the Stantons are the next best thing.

When funds are available I will be getting some.

Thanks Guzzler, I will contact Jim regarding shipping costs, I notice there is a link on his web site to do just that. ;)

Be aware that when I e-mailed an enquiry earlier this year, I was informed that postagecourier costs to the UK would be around $70-80!!!!

I've ordered a set to be deleiverd to my Florida home and I'll either bring them back myself or get my house sitter to post them in a Jiffy bag. (I'm told it will be less than $15).

Yup, they work!

They are here and they cost $199.95 + shipping + import taxes + VAT.
Thats why I had them brought over by a nice guy :D

Cheers,
Michel

I've got a pair on my GS1150. I bought them in the USA and brought them back with me. They look goor, do the job and after 2 years I rate them better than crashbars.

Jim Stanton has a good product there.

Alex B

PS: But they are expensive.

PS - After my recent 'traffic light' incident, the crashbars on my bike effectively stopped any damage to the engine cylinder and possibly my leg.

I wouldn't be without them again.

Hepco and becker

I have to say.. I dont give much for the TT or wunderlich engine bars, BUT i have Hepco and Becker bars.. dropped the bike a few times now in various ways. The bars have saved the engine heads every time. All I have to do, is give em a quick sand and re-spray. As far as i am concerned they have paid for them selfs.

The staton heads, look nice and seem to work. But H&B bars are just as cheap.
As for filtering, they are narrower than the handlebars.

Isn't it cheaper just to buy new rocker covers ??
Maybe, but if I have an off and the head guards get bruised but I can ride home, I'm happier with that.

A hole in my rocker cover would leave me stranded...

Migsel in english this would be called "belt and braces":D
Yea sorta. But the edges of the covers are not really protected by the crash bars. I think the crash bars protect the cylinders from a blow and the head guard protect the covers from sliding damage.

And the crash bars make nice leg rests on long motorway rides :D
