Had been thinking about some Rocker cover protection for a while after selling my crash bars that were fitted to my GS Adventure. The bars were good and I think for instances of "Topple over" they can save a tremendous amount of damage.
I have always had a niggle in the back of my head though about how they would perform in a spill at anything other than walking pace or when stationary.
So......what to do about some extra protection now the crash bars had gone. The flimsey plastic things fitted as standard would perform about as good as a one legged man in an arse kicking competition.
I did a search and saw the Touratit ones, I held my breath when I thought the Great Steptoe was going to produce some, but when that didn`t happen I decided on the impressive looking "Stanton" Head guards.
After being dissapointed that no reply came from a PM sent to a guy selling them on this site I decided to make contact directly with Mr stanton of Pheonix Arizona.
Nothing could have been easier, after my order was sent a reply came in five days to confirm receipt and this morning, just ten days from my original order I have just signed the paper on the clipboard from the Fed Ex man. Them Guards do look a sturdy pice of kit when you hold `em in your hands I must say. The cost for any body wondering was $199.95 plus $54.67 shipping, not bad in my opinion.
Well just to fit `em now. They come supplied with a new set of bolts, fitting instructions and a proper Alen key. Will post a picture for ya` later in the week.

Here`s Jim stantons site......Clickety Click

Cheers......BB.... ;)

I brought a set back from the USA for Migsel a couple of years ago. I was very impressed with the quality of the moulding and the fittings.

To save the hassle of importation and potentially having to deal with UK customs, you can buy them duty-paid from The Civil One - http://www.cajasahel.com/ They are a bit more expensive but that's what import duties and VAT do to US prices.

After you have fitted them put some protective oil on the heads of the allen bolts as they dont like this country and tend to start to rust. Also after a week or so re check everything is tight as a couple of my allen bolts worked loose. ;)

Good job I got them too as the bike fell off the sidestand a couple of weeks ago. Result was no damage apart from scuff on one of the Stantons. :thumb

Mike,
It appears he tried him but got no reply   Also customs are not a problem if you get the declaration marked "used bike parts" :clap :clap

These are one of the best mods I have made to my GS - have seriously saved
the covers in a number of hard offs (as opposed to hard-ons! :D ). If they get
graunched badly all one has to do is fill with a bit of spot putty and spray with rattle can and they are as goo new. Tip for fitting is to align all bolts and finger tighten first, then gradually tighten them up in rotation - there is inevitably a bit of flex that is taken up in the process. Excellent addition. :thumb Wonder if he is going to make for the 1200 ... those BMW thin alu bling things are not going to last.
