Ok, I know, this has been talked about before, but I'm looking for any more feedback about these systems (especially Starcoms new digital unit) to help me to try and decide which to go for. I liked the idea of the 'complete kit' offered by Starcom, but I'm leaning towards Autocom as GSRich is on this forum and its the one sold by the dealers. I'm open to try something different, rather than following the masses, so I'd like to get as much comment and guidance as possible on what peoples experiences are with either of these bike communication manufacturers.

I have a 2006 R12GS, so photos of installations of the Starcom and Autocom on this bike (to give me ideas on where to put all the kit) would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :thumb

If you are open to options you should probably also consider the IntaRide system.

I'm a bit out of date with intercoms but have used IntaRide and Autocom for several years for both pleasure and in a working environment.

I'd say the Autocom is a great piece of kit and it's worked very well BUT it was expensive compared to the IntaRide. The original system I bought had two faulty headsets (a known issue at the time which has since been sorted) but when I brought them in to complain they were swapped for new ones with no fuss at all.

The IntaRide has all the features of the Autocom for less money and has been every bit as reliable. The only thing I didn't like was the standard PTT button which was less than useless IMO but the 'pro' PTT switch they do works fine.

I've never used a Starcom, but I've never really heard anyone complain about them.

Don't know if that's helped at all... :)

I don't have the digital but have been generally pleased with the Starcom1 unit that I have used for a couple of years.

The automatic volume adjustment as you increase speed works brilliantly for music and when answering phone calls.

Weak points?

1) Case not waterproof
2) Multi-pin plugs can vibrate out of the sockets
3) Helmet harness connections are fragile.

Check if the digital uses the same components.
