Starter button fault?

2003 1150GS - Every time I start the bike, the first press of the starter button just results in a click, then the clock restets back to 00:00 and it starts fine on the second press? Any ideas please?

Haven't checked the fuses but will tonight. I assumed that if a fuse had blown it wouldn't start at all, whereas it always starts on the second press.

Battery? Check levels? before you had this problem did the ABS fail to initialise sometimes after starting. Could just be feckin cold

But does the clock normally reset to 00:00 if the bike doesn't start on the first press?

My '03 did this once too.
