When my bike refused to start - instead I got a nasty buzzing sound from the relays/fuses - I removed the start motor and stripped it down for clues.
I found a tin plate cover that should be press fitted against the planetary gears. But in my case it had come loose and had rattled merrily against the top of the armature until the varnish on the copper wiring came away. And the attached pictures show the result.
Anyone care to tell me what amperage or whatever is needed to generate this sort of damage?
It turned out to be cheaper to buy a new motor off've eBay DE but I did clean up and rebuild the motor. Haven't tried to run it tho'! The bike is working and a we all know "if it works, don't fix it"
