First time my 1100GS has let me down, but I was at home so I can forgive it.
Got that dreaded click on turn of the key.Took starter off and apart, the magnet has broken up.Can anyone tell me my options ?can I just get another magnet or do I have to buy another complete motor? These things aint cheap as i am sure you are all aware.(The motor is the original and bike has done 76000 miles)
many thanks !

Many parts of the starter are common with small Peugeot/Citroen cars, if you can find a place that reconditions starters that knows what they are doing then they should sort you out, I know of two places local to me that can do em, but you seem a bit far away.

yeah and since have found the corsa also same.Did a google search and it brought me back to this wonderful forum and a previous post.Has to be the way to go for now as 190 quid for new is not going to happen.

take it to somebody that can rebuild starter's and they'll sort you out, if you do a search on the model number there are companys that supply parts for starters, theres one near Moto-bins (or motoworks I get them mixed up ) that does bits for the 1150 starter as it's a pretty standard Valeo part

At 70k miles my starter motor packed up on my R1100RS. It was dry, seized up and rattled!! It drew so much power from an Odessy battery that it would blank the digital clock for a second and reset it to 00.00. I replaced it with a reconditioned one from Motor Works for approx £80. Its been fine for the last nine months.
