Couple off time now usually when cold the starter just clunks , it’s only the first attempt and it usually fires up next go ,
do I need to think about getting it replaced .

Yes Arrow or refurb,

You could pull it and strip and clean the Bendix gear, but it will eventually die

As Santa says...... always assuming the battery CCA tests OK & all the leads are nipped up tight.

The original starter on mine (2010 GSA) began to get very tired around 68000 miles - then would not re start the engine when it was hot (had to wait for a while , then it would). Got a new starter motor in at 72000 miles - fires on the button every time now.
