Hi all! Have a 2009 R1200GS done 25k miles, my dad started it up once the weather was warming up, started fine so left it to tick over to recharge the battery but he forgot to go back to it to turn it off. Once he realised it had ran out of fuel and then flatten the battery. Charged the battery and refuelled then tried to start again but won’t fire up. The fuel tank is full but is reading empty on the gauge and the battery is fully charger and spins the starter motor over great. Have been told should hear the fuel pump kick in to prime it but couldn’t hear anything so have tried power direct and it worked ok, so now lost and not sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated!

Classic fuel pump controller kaput symptoms. Have a surf on that?
I think he may be right. When my fuel pump and controller went it would turn over but wouldn't start.
You could try spraying some easy start or brake cleaner in the air filter inlet while cranking. See if it fires up a bit which will rule out electrical problems to the spark.
First place to look.
The fuel guage should pick up after you get the bike started and ride it a bit. Mine takes a quarter mile or so sometimes to reset after filling up.
