starting wothout lights!

Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to start the 1200gs without the lights on? I seem to remember a post some time ago with sequence of starting the bike holding the left indicator on whilst starting,but could not find the post
I only ask as I have just got the bike out (first time after service couple/three weeks ago) when 2 recall fixes were done which included software update to stop battery going flat,and guess what !the bloody battery was flat"
So I couldn't go for a spin as required now battery is on the trusted optimate to breath life back in to it!
Thats that off my chest hope someone can help,just had a thought maybe the sequence I remember reading allowed you to start with only the side lights on as opposed to the main light as well.

After ignition switched on - Press and hold Indicator cancel button for 5 secs, then Press and hold Right Indicator button for 5 secs. Also works when engine is running.

That'll be specific to the 1200, as the 1150 has conventional wiring rather than the computerised control modules on the 1200.

But you can quiet easily pull the 90deg angled headlight connector off to save riding around offroad wearing your bulb out.
