startup program on xp

Hi,

Whats the name of that windows utility you can use to set what programs open on startup?

msconfig

type it into the "run" box in the start menu. then click on startup tab.

If you have Windows Defender, this has a similar utility but allows you to just stop em starting temporarily or permanently.
It also gives a brief description of what each is so you don't go turning off something you don't want to.

Ok if I may highjack this thread...

I've use the msconfig and discovered MWSBAR get loaded every time I start windows and leads to an error. some nasty thing my daughter installed, I the install program did half a job I think.
I can uncheck the line on the startup, but this only has any effect when I keep the startup option on 'selective start-up'.

HOw to I get rid of the thing completely.

try spybot or hijackthis


i have many things permanently disabled at startup with msconfig.
