Being the qowner of an 05 1200GS and rather liking the new adventure, i thought i might try and enchance mine by getting some of the adventure items like the screen, footpegs, handlebar cross bar, front seat, and the engine casing.........until i found out the prices

Screen complete with fittings..£365
Footpegs...£40 EACH
Crossbar not available by itself and the front seat and engine case protectors have no price to them as yet (?)

Make Touratech look cheap!!!

GSA screen

:eek :eek I had been thinking about putting a GSA screen on my 05 GS but at that price I think I will go down the 'tobinator' route. How can they charge those prices thats ridiculus

I was thinking of doing the same thing....but the cost is just outrageous  .

Keep us posted if you get any Adventure bits fitted to your 12GS :thumb

Perhaps the message from BMW is that they don't really want us to Adventurise our 1200GS's!

I thought the basic Adventure was another £800 or so more than the standard GS. If you add up the costs of all the other bits as well, it must be a bargain? From BMW ????!

If you added up the spares dept prices for the bike you already have, you would find you were riding a £30k bike. :D

The thing is the dealership doesn't buy spares in at the same rates as the factory buys in from the suppliers............ If you add in delivery to the UK, delivery to the dealer, packaging per part, overhead & handling for the dealership and finally profit it's actually getting towards a fair cost (maybe not the plastic screen though)..........

This is why Touratech prices are similar, it's all hand made in Germany under one roof.

I work for an Automotive maufacturer that produce low volumes, and we get stung on unit cost prices direct from supplier, I think it will be exactly the same for BMW. How many do they actually produce per year?

Do you know what the part number is for the 1200GSA screen?

Ditto here on this side of the pond. The prices are just off the scale. :spitfire

That's roughly correct.

Worse for Japanese made bikes and it's what fuels bike thefts.

The parts go into the second-hand market (sometimes even onto dealers shelves!).

Fames and engines often end-up on circuits in the hands of Privateer racers.

Bikes with fairings are more prone to damage and therefore theft for parts, another good reason to own a GS! ;)

(Sorry for the hijack).
