Hi Guys.

I have fitted a magnum to my R1200GS 2010 model.

The horn works perfectly when hanging loose with the wires connected.

The problem comes when I tighten the mounting bracket on the central stud.

As soon as the the nuts are tightened it sounds like the horn is being strangled.

I've tried various washers, spacers etc and even tightened the bracket between two nuts so that no pressure was put on the side of the diaphragm.

I've also tried adjusting the bolt under the plastic cover, all to no avail.

Anyone help...

Pete

Check the wiring first.

I had the same problem. Swapped in a new one. Problem still there. Took it to an auto-electrician who diagnosed a dodgy connector.

I have had two and both packed up within 15 months of use. Crap.
Now use a universal car horn from a Auto parts shop, its louder and still working 2 years on.

Thanks for the replies.

I fitted one of these to my last 1200GS and it was fine and continued to
work well for around 50k miles, hence ordering one for the new bike.

As said the connections are fine as it works perfectly until the mounting nut
is tightened.

Nippy Normans emailed this morning in order to return it and get a replacement.

regards.

Pete.
