Fitted a Stebel Nautilus horn today, and noticed on testing the relay connections, that you only get 1 to 2 seconds of the horn working, is this usual?

Sounds like you've wired the horn directly to the power (ie the OE horn connections, which will sometimes trip out the circuit breakers in the CanBus system) or you've incorrectly wired the relay.

Because this horn draws over 19amps, it's best to use the relay.

I had intermittent results until I correctly wired the relay supplied with the Stebel Nautilus.

Perhaps our own wiring diagram will help you so I've attached the pdf file.

I used the Magnum which doesn't draw enough to need a relay and is small enough to fit where the oem horn was. It's also plenty loud enough.
The oem would disgrace a pizza delivery moped, what on earth were BMW thinking when they fitted that cheap, useless thing?

Is Magnum the brand, the model ? Any more info would be usefull. Tks.

Thanks for the reply and diagram Dutch, am on a trip in Laos just now, so my internet coverage is sparse.

When I installed the horn I used the relay and connected a wire directly to the battery with a 25amp fuse, what I think is, when you use the horn you only get power to the horn for 1-2 seconds to stop you continuosly using it, as a BMW idiosynchrasity, is yours like that?
