The top yoke stanchion bushes are £60.50 each from motorworks. I'll just be changing the steering bearing on mine at £18 thanks unless they are proper fecked.

I did mine at 50K miles including powder coating the top yoke to match swing arm and final drive. The stanchion bushes were fine and came out easily with the yoke heated to 120C (don't tell the Mrs which oven I used). Lots of copper grease on reassembly in the hopes of keeping salt out of the workings.
Who knows why BMW didn't use poly bushes or maybe Igus. The angle of movement isn't great.
Got the bearing today, its a 5204-2RS made by FBJ (Japan). I've probably already got one or two of these somewhere....
I dare bet my local bearing trade supplier can do them a lot cheaper.

A quick check on eBay found some Koyo for £8.
I popped the seals out of mine and added more grease. It's not rolling like a wheel bearing so needs extra grease to avoid the contact points rubbing dry.

At £8 a pop, i shall just replace them when necessary.
Question is "Are they Genuine or counterfeit?"

Mine came from a bearings specialist for about £8. No need to pay BMW 3x the price.
It's not a hard job but a knotchy bearing affects steering so 10 minutes to shove in some more grease is a no brainier (IMO).

Having worked in the Automotive Business for 30 plus years I avoid "Bargains" and "try" to buy locally from known suppliers

eBay is a market place - buyer beware just like everywhere else.
BTW, I also used angular contact ball bearings on the swing arm as the BMW taper rollers are an odd spec and available only from them. After 13,000 miles the swing arm still hasn't fallen off and with the rear shock removed there are no signs of distress.

IN all honesty, Does anyone know who anyone is on E Bay?
You walk into a local shop, that know you for years and ask for an SKF or Japanese equivalent quality bearing?
If its £5 more than E bay I'll take that hit gladly Also knowing that using a local business assists in local Marketplace!
That's what's wrong now, people have £5K plus bikes and want everything for next to nothing!

I agree but what does hack me off is when the local supplier charges double for exactly the same item. I've had that with Koyo bearings for the front wheel, in fact it was more than double

The trouble with eBay is many traders are operating out of their back shed with overheads to match.
I also prefer to use local suppliers. But can't always get out to them. especially when the bike is laid up.
In this case finding the correct bearing on eBay isn't that easy. Best to talk to a real person.

I popped the cap off the steering bearing to check it with a view to replacing it. It had one tiny rust spot on the outer race, no signs of wear or play, looks like the 'o ring' on the plastic cap was doing its job of keeping water out.
I popped the dust seal from the bearing and packed it with fresh grease then reassembled everything.
I now think the vague front end feel and slight wander is due to my PR4's being well squared off and in need of replacement soon, rather than steering or suspension.
Time allocated for a bearing change was spent stripping and cleaning the starter motor instead.
