I see some of the LC's have a steering damper fitted. Is this an update that would be retro fitted?
Doubt it
Doesn't need it though!!

...............Does it need a damper? Of course not, but they have to change things a bit each year to keep sales interest going and give their salesmen something to talk about when their new stock arrives....................

BMW had to fit the damper to regain the sales that were currently being lost to those riders who had become wary of buying the bike since the journo's mentioned tank slappers in Bike and other magazines, and also the yet unexplained death of the late but very great Kevin Ash.
We who ride the bike know that it doesn't need a damper, but business is about sales, and so the damper needs to be fitted. Two of my mates have been put off getting the LC because of the Tank Slap claims and have both said that they would be much happier to have a 'damped' bike.
I had a good look at the new bike yesterday, and it does not look like an easy retro fit, as the new bike looks to have a new lower steering yoke casting which is not a a cheap or a 5 minute job to change.
When I get the chance I'll try one, you never know it might not feel as good as our 'alive' un-damped versions!
So just ride the bike it's fine!![]()
Why slow down the steering...
.
Ah but you missed the important bit, no longer a BMW roundel on the rear rack!! Obviously a quality issue that means all bikes purchased prior to this are of inferior quality
I was told that if you look at a BMW bike and car, you shouldn't be able to see more than one BMW Roundel at anyone time, don't know who was sadder, the bloke who thought it up or the salesman for knowing it.![]()

Don't have one myself, I prefer the feel of a 1200GSA TC, and upgraded using the £1000 deposit scheme. That doesn't mean I don't like the LC just that when the new LC adventure comes I may have to be hiding from the missus!!![]()

I was riding down a german motorway last week, cruise control set a touch under 100 mph, when I rode over a black stripe of tar they fill the cracks in with, then a massive tank slapper which fortunately didn't throw me off but did give me a scare, spoke to southport superbikes my local dealer yesterday, they said its the 1st they have heard and can I bring the bike in to inspect it, I would like a damper
