Does anyone know if a 2008 handlebar fits on a 2006 top yoke plate? Diameter wise??

The top yoke handlebar clamps are the same diameter :

2006 GSA - 32 71 7 664 356 CLAMPING SUPPORT - D=28,5MM

2008 GSA - 31 42 7 718 172 CLAMPING SUPPORT, TOP - D=28,5

So I would guess yes but will let anyone more knowledgeable confirm or otherwise.....

Thanks. They say that the ergonomics on the 2008 model are better so there must be a difference on the handlebar design.

The top yokes are different ... maybe you just need some bar risers?

If there's a difference of 0.5mm you need to be careful. The bars on my GS are 28.6 (I think) and I mistakenly bought a set of 28mm bars: they didn't fit well and I had to shim the bar clamps to grip them properly and even then they twisted badly when I fell off. There are bars at both 28mm and 28.6, make sure you get the right ones.

Shimming the smaller size should be fine but forcing the larger bad into smaller bracket is a very not good idea.
My Renthals are on Rox anti vibe risers on shorter height clamps.
I used the lowest rise bars I could get because Rox raise the mount by >2".
The bend is McGrath/Short. The sweep angle is much more comfortable on hands wrists and back than the BMW sit up & beg setup. Bike is 08 Adv.
