Steptoe's cat code 'plug' - it works!

.

Or is this another (and it wouldn't be the first time  ) example of doing something, expecting something better, expectation playing with the mind and then me thinking everything is better than before? Mmmmmmm ..

That normally works in direct proportion to how much money you've spent on the "item" or "device".

It cost you a paperclip. :thumb

Blimey!

Well after enjoying some "light reading" with this thread I decided to poke about under the seat of my beloved '02 1150GS and see what CCP she has fitted..

When I got her about a year ago she was already fitted with a Y peice and remus can, And has always ran okay(ish)... Only having an 'odd' hesitation at about 3K...

So anyway I found a yellow plug in there.. So in the best tradition of "what happens if" I yanked it out and went for a ride... 20 miles or so... and boy what a difference! much smoother, with very little stutter anywhere in the revs...

Next stage... Try the "Steptoe mod"... fitted the hugely expensive peice of wire and went for another ride... result... really nice smooth power delivery, and just pulling away the bike feels much "happier"!

Just ridden my 50 mile journey to work, and it was like riding a completly different machine! I can now roll on and off the trottle rather than changing down a gear though the bends (suffolk countryside roads).

Cheers to all for getting me thinking (and hence getting my bike running well)! Especially Steptoe for sharing his knowledge with us all! :D

back firing

Bought a y-piece and can from Carbon Can Co. at the Excel this year for my 1150GS, 01 model originally registered in Sidney, OZ, bought from SPC's.
I thought it was a complete baragin at £180. Had a few issues fitting it. Y-piece was slightly more splayed than OE cat but got there eventually. Large pieces of wood persuaded it to slip over the down tubes and in the correct position to miss the centre stand.
Sounds great but i do have a issue with the occasional gunshot backfire. This is quite annoying. I had wondered if it was because i'd bought a cheaper can as opposed to the more expensive Remus and Akrapov'.
Having just registered and having a late night trawl, i've stumbled on this 'steptoe' mod. When i get some time i will try it out, now i've seen the pics(cheers!) and let you know what happened.

Just tried it, pullin like a teanager with a new copy of Razzle now brill many thanks:thumb

Y piece and Sebring can fitted BTW:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb

i also just did this on the way home, just to give it a go... bugger me... the difference is quite noticable. That was just removing the plug. Its not perfect but loads better. Will be giving the wire a go when i get around to it. But in the meantime thanks steppers. :aidan
