Steve and Lee's excellent adventure

One more stop to make before home, Verdun, Steve wanted to see a few of the WW1 monuments and forts, and what better place than here.
Verdun has lots of places to visit, and if you are into the history of the great war its a must.
It would take us 4 hours from Kyserberg to verdun so no need for an early start and by the time we had packed up camp to leave it was about 9.30am. Not much to report about the journey up to verdun, very quiet on the roads, superb weather and great route, what more could you ask for.
We arrived in Verdun around dinner, found a cheap F1 hotel unpacked the bikes and and set off into verdun to find a place to eat, when we got there it seemed very busy, it turned out there was a music festival on, a bonus for us as we are both into live music.
There were bands playing everywhere, street corners, cafe bars, on the side of the river, i think i counted 30, it was wonderful to see and hear all the different types of music, rock pop classical country, the lot, It was that good we didnt leave till 11.30pm.

We got up bright and early today for a full days sight seeing around Verdun, places we were visiting would be the verdun ossuary, Fort Douaumont, Fort Vaux and all the surrounding area, and Citadelle Souterraine, all very good apart from the last one, this didn't impress me at all i found it very corny if thats the right word.
All to soon the day was over and it was time to get back to the hotel pack up and get our gear ready for our run back up to the tunnel tomorrow. we had two last places to visit on the way back one was Vimmy ridge and the other was La coupole Rocket launch site/museum, we would then find digs close to the tunnel ready for an early start to home the following day.

Well that's it, 1 month on the road, we both had an excellent adventure, got to see some really fab places, and meet some really nice people.
The total cost for me worked out at 1950 euro.
Miles covered 4300

Remember me saying i would be doing some of the places again sooner than i expected, well after arriving back home, 8 days later i would be back down there with my lady for another month. i will post the full story at a later date.

thank you for the kind comments, and also to the people who take the time to post there own ride reports, and offer advice. I am sure others would agree that they inspire us to get off our backsides and go traveling.
