I am getting concerned my ignition switch it asbout to jam up so I wondered if anyone knew of the best place to get one ?

The bike is nearly 4 years old and even with WD40 applied at regular invervals, the key is getting increasigly difficult to turn, it goes in ok but is a bitch to turn on.

Anyone had similar problems and/or a cheap fix ??!!

3 in One Professional spray with PTFE will resolve your problem (cheapest I could find was from the local Screwfix). Use the tube to spray into where the key fits in the ignition and also allow to seep down around the edge of where the barrel turns in the ignition. You may have to carry this out this process on a few successive days before it is working as it should. Once back to normal, if you are using the machine throughout winter, a spray every 2-3 weeks will keep it working as it should.

Hi Russ

I haven't got time to search back for you at the moment, but this has happened before. Look back through the forum, and you'll find a previous post with the same problem. I can remember though that it needed parts, not more lube.

Mine got really sticky in the first few thousand miles, asked the dealer to look at it under warranty and they fixed although what they did I don`t know:nenau still fine 3 years later:beerjug:

Cheers for the replies.

I don't think I really explained how it feels, more than being sticky it feel like its actually physically catching on something within the barrel, it also feels the same with both of the keys so I'm just hoping it doesnt totally jam up !

I'll try some of the remedies above though and keep my fingers crossed !

:D

Mine was the same and not something that WD40 would cure, it felt like the key was going to break so whether the dealer took it apart and greased it I don`t know:nenau

Have had exactly the same.Spoke to very reliable 'one man band' who recommended WD40 followed by ACF 50 into key access point. I did this and it was immediately A1 again. Note: he did not like the idea of 3 in 1, something to do with oil on electrical contacts - not good . Hope this helps .
