Just a quick heads up. My Suzuki blue DR650SE (2006) with white side panels was pinched from near my flat in Edinburgh at the beginning of December. It was chained to my 1150GS which they left as it was probably too heavy for them and they were only after the dual purpose bike, both bikes were covered with black Motrax covers and its a quite, dead end street so it was targeted.

Here's a bit more info:

And I know its bound to be getting thrashed about some council estate in Edinburgh and the cops aren't interested etc. I've just ridden this bike from Australia back to Scotland and only just got it UK registered so its kind of annoying and would prefer it wasn't in the hands of thieving scum.

Anyway, this kind of bike hasn't been sold in the UK for several years so if anyone happens to hear anything or is offered a 'cheap DR', you know who to call!

Will keep an eye out for it.

Great video amigo. Hopefully it will turn up soon, still in one piece.

Sorry tae hear about yer bike mate, good vid.
Hope yae get it back.

I'm really sorry to hear that your bike has been stolen....its a terrible feeling and I really feel for you. As you say traveling through all those "risky" countries and getting it nicked here reminds us all what a bunch of low life scumbags live on our doorstep...

I hope you get it back unharmed soon

Thanks for the comments. I've heard a whole bunch of bikes have been stolen in recent weeks in Edinburgh. God knows where they've all ended up. Fingers X'd the insurance co actually pays out something that covers it.

For a while my bike wasn't even insured as Carole Nash only gave me 30 days cover when I got home until it was registered. And it took quite a bit longer than that thanks to the pedantic sods doing the SVA testing in Bishopriggs and was only just back on the insurance when it got lifted. In fact, I'd literally just fitted the new UK plates in it on the Saturday and it disappeared the following week.

I was speaking to a cop last night who told me its police policy not the chase stolen bikes as its too dangerous...what, for the thief??

I think they pretend to be protecting the Public by not Cahsing them

Fraid not.

Though while I was getting my 1150GS MOT'd last week, I saw a ned on a yellow DRz400 with no number plates wheelie down Milton Road towards Joppa.

I suspect the cops were a bit too busy to bother with him too.

It'll have more sentimental value than what the insurer will ever pay out
Just seen this thread.

Hope it does turn up unscathed:thumb2

Well after about 4 months, it has never been recovered. So if you happen to see a ned riding one of these probably in Niddrie, guess what? It's not his.

Chances are it was stripped to a thousand parts & sold bit by bit on eBay.

Did you check eBay at the time?
I'd have been tempted to bid on any local DR650 parts that look similar i.e. 'blue' & ask if they had a frame or engine for sale then arrange to collect & check the serial numbers.

Yeah, been doing that. I also put a request out to breakers for parts but nothing showed up. To be honest, it would be bloody kids that took it and was in very good nick (at the time) so suspect they would have hung on to it.
