Hi, my beloved 1150GS Adventure in silver with lots of bells and whistles has been stolen today in Edinburgh. There is a minor dent on the front left of the fuel tank and cammo gaffer tape under the top box clamp. If you see it please let me know. I am distraught!

They really seem to target the GS . I hear lots disappear in London .

As you've now commented on the post where this was shared to the Scotland's Bikers Against Bike Crime page on Facebook, I'm guessing you're aware that the majority of bike thefts and there are, currently, lots of them, are being carried out by the same group of teenagers who post pictures on social media of themselves with the bikes. Some of the members on that page know the locations in Edinburgh where these kids have been known to dump the bikes when they've done with them. Unfortunately, they've also been known to set them on fire there. I know that there's some place around The Wisp which is one location. If you ask on that page, someone might be forthcoming with some more information.

There was an instance last week where three out of a group of four German tourists had their bikes stolen and they were both recovered within a couple of days. The Police know who these kids are and I believe some fourteen of them were recently arrested and charged. It might be helpful to raise the theft of your bike again with Police Scotland in Edinburgh and ask them about how Operation Soteria ( http://www.scotland.police.uk/whats...orcycle-crime-operation-launched-in-edinburgh ) will increase the chances of them recovering your bike.

Unfortunately, you're not alone and there's a serious problem with young lads stealing multiple bikes in Edinburgh.

Thats a waste of time, they will probably get a holiday because they were abused when they were young. String the bastards up by the baws that would sort the little cnuts out.
 
If this is kids - I'm guessing they don't arrive in a van and cut through chains and disclocks - do they just bust the steering lock and push it away? Or are they more capable? I don't know if the OP had extra security on his bike but big cities just seem a treasure chest for bike thieves. Is there some real Security out there or in the offing. People ignore alarms, gangs cut through chains - where to go from here?
 
She is back! Police found her in Leith. Damage report to follow but it looks like the ignition barrel has been punched out.
