Arse. Stone hit my right side radiator yesterday, pissed coolant out everywhere. Managed to bodge it up with some Aryldite, but its a new rad for me  Just trying to find one urgently so I can still do Dent this weekend, but unlikely...

I See the Rallye comes with guards as standard. I will order a set of the Rallye guards, only about £25 I believe.

Any tips on removing / reinstalling a radiator? Charging the system etc??

I was told by my dealer the rally's guards don't fit the GSA.

Let me know what you am age to find for about the same price for the GSA as after your vid on fb yesterday I want some, but not for evotech prices.

An old trick used to be to pour an egg (raw of course) into the radiator and it filled the crack.

Apparently, you change the shroud too and it all fits. A few quid of plastics apparently. Darren at Vines said he would let me know all the part numbers and a cost.

Evotech make some great guards and they are local to you

Its going to be an expensive week...

That said, the rad is less than I thought, at £196 inc VAT.

No no. No NO!!
The egg will clog up any small channel, thermostat etc as it cooks.

Anyone thinking this is a fix deserves being run over by ATT :rob

OK - I've never done it but it used to be done many years ago before all this sophistication hit us.

"run over by ATT" - how horrible!

Sorry to hear that. Guess this is one in the eye to all those fuckers that say you'll never need Rad guards but £196... could have been worse. Never heard of Aryldite, did you just apply it directly to the radiator? Did you get any warning on the dash or an increase in temp? Hope you get this sorted in time for Dent.

Thanks, just spoke to a chap in Bagshot, can do it for up to £30, but need to get the araldite out first!

I have some of that black pepper type stuff, sorry can't remember the name, in my emergency repair kit to put in a radiator for just this type of thing. Probably wouldn't have helped as I only carry the tool kit and emergency repair kit when I'm on tour.

Did you limp home, repair at the roadside or get the AA out?

Put the araldite on road side, then rode home gently with the rad cap off, so the system didnt pressurise. When home, did some spirited rides around the local roads with rad cap on and it was all good, so using the bike this week, but have some radweld and spare liquid metal stuff in the topcase haha

Lind tried to fit the Rallye guards to my '17 GSA. They said they wouldn't fit "without extensive bodging".

Lind gave me a set of the plastic ones to see if they'd fit my 13 plate GS LC. They don't. Unless you want to get the Dremmel out. Also told by them that they won't fit the GSA. Bought some metal mesh from B&Q as another 'tosser'has done. So will crank Wagner up on the garage boombox and get fettling!

Have a chat with your local garage - there's almost bound to be somewhere local that will put a new core in your radiator (I have had it done on several cars over the years) - it'll be a lot cheaper than a new one from BMW...

Bite the bullet....... get the new radiator, fit guards to them - and put it down to experience.
