I like the tech on the new unit , but did a test with my XT clipped to the bars as well . I like to wander a bit on a pre planned route (MRA) so loaded both on a route around Wales , the XT would show the route even if I strayed off , allowing me to rejoin at a point of my choice , basically I could ghost the route and dip back in . The connect nav did not like this as it kept re routing and missed a few odd lanes I had routed . Will keep trying but find it more of a sat nav , rather than a gps which I have more freedom .
I have read that I should route using Tom Tom , not Here , so will give that a go as well . I expect well positioned point would work but this seemed not the case compared to this trusty Garmin. Any ideas or is it a dead end as the unit may be for the non map planners , just A to B type of folks , must admit tho it’s a slick unit all the same .

I am with you stick the connected nav has a lot going for it .But it has a few problems . You must use tom tom maps .and use any over map off your choice .and only down load map in 1.1gpx .i presume you have the latest software update V2 .like you i miss being able to see the track. Also any slight detour from your route ie cafe use a shaping point .i am using MRA. The first couple off times i used it i was ready to throw it. But after tacking advice from MRA it now works perfectly. The mapping is terrible . But I decided i would continue to get it right and forgive its mapping if I could trust it . Where as garmin will do some stupid things .Also i presume you are using the connected app .with the MRA
