As said, mine is 16 GB. How many 2GB SD cards of photos can it store?

You will obviously only be able to transfer them via iTunes because it has no memory card slots.
You need to wipe the iPad of all apps and music etc to find out the maximum storage space left.
I would guess at something like 12gb

You can also transfer pics to the ipad via the apple camera connection kit. I think that's what it's called.
Transferring them isn't a problem, already got the little reader plug thingy, and a very neat (and cheap) bit of kit it is too.
So, the space available is would be 12 Gigs then, cheers.
