Strange feeling when riding from rear end.

When out this weekend on my first decent ride since buying my 65 plated 1200LC GSA, I need to ask if others have had the strange feeling from the back end.
I will attempt to describe as best I can.
Imagine riding with a hard, solid tyre, especially when riding over rumble strips laid across the road.
Got the feeling intermittently not constantly.
Changes made to the suspension unit had no effect so it wasn't set to hard for one up with luggage.
Tyre pressures were correct, running original tyres with 4k on them.
Handling was good, so all seemed ok except for that hard feeling seemed to emanate from shaft or back wheel area.
Could it be the rubber?
Could it be the shaft?
Please let me have feed back if you can help.

After 4000 miles could be that the tyres have squared off ?

Obviously an ESA model , there are a number of previous posts on the subject going back to 2014 .....................do a search on ESA problems
 
Do you have a MudSling fitted? Mine just catches the tyre edge sometimes and I feel a vibration through the pegs. Interestingly more so with a worn tyre?
 
Bike is standard GSA TE.
So far have read,
tyre change to PR4s.
Lower TP 34/40.
ESA Dynamic harder setting than non Dynamic model.
Will be calling the dealer tomorrow as they confirmed the only variation between the 2016 plate and the 17 plate was the keyless ignition.
No mention of ESA variations.
 
I get something similar. I think..unless I'm going mad

Going along steady at around 4300rpm i.e. Not braking or accelerating, absolutely smooth road for a change i.e. The new tarmac and no debris or cats eyes... Think steady and smooth..

Then every now and then I get a subtle knock which I feel through seat and pegs. It happens every few seconds but it's usually so subtle that by then time I think there's a problem it's gone. But, it definitely happened.

Its the shaft drive, takes getting use to if its your first gs

Knowing what gear suits what speed eliminates it
 
Not first GS, have 1100 which I have owned for 20 years, had 2008 GSA plus other shaft drives never had similar issue in the past.
Sib has described it, but has that been discussed with any dealer?
 
Please get the drive shaft checked. Had an issue with the rear of my bike recently which I attributed to tyres but in fact one side of the rose joint on the shaft was seized. Dealer replaced and all is now well. Much less transmission lash as well.
 
I had a 14 plate GSA and that happened to me on 2 separate occasions, both at motorway speed
and felt like there was no damping at the rear.

I took the bike back to the dealers, they plugged it in and couldn't find anything wrong.

I have sold the BM now and have replaced it with a bike with conventional shocks.:nenau

sounds like a right bummer.:D
 
Mine does that too. I think it's the ESA not responding fast enough to road imperfections/ cats eyes etc. I've tried changing from firm to normal to soft without a noticeable difference to the phenomenon.

Do you feel it through the seat or the pegs? The GS does seem to send a lot of feeling through the pegs. You can feel road imperfections through your feet.
When I had my first GS it took a while to get used to it, now I don't notice it.
