Got back from the Welsh run, unloaded the bike and reset the suspension settings. Bounced the back end of the bike and got a funny graunching/swishing sound. Thought it may have been the oil, from having a good workout and getting too hot but, tried it again this morning and the same result. My bikes an 02 Adv with 14k on it. Am i looking at another warranty claim to go with the already growing list of; fork top rubbers (split), fork brace (the dreaded bubbles) and panniers... yup, they're bubbling too.

Oooops!
Rainbow in Sheffield demo Adventure has exactly the same problem and they've ordered a new rear shock for it.
I rode it on saturday whilst mine was in for service and the opion is that the preload had been over wound by a previous rider. It rode OK on Saturday but i had the preload fully of and it was still abit stiff for my 20 stone frame !!!
Looks like another warranty claim

Sherpa ;)

Still happy - but the quality has definately got worse since my 01 model - thank god for 2 year warranty

After the Rhayader weekend, whilst washing the bike i found a stone had lodged itself between paralever arm and er (it's late I can't remember but you get my gist) something thereabouts, made a nasty gouge though,
and was awkward to remove, could that be the problem with yours? worth checking anyway if you've been on the back roads of Wales! :( :( :(

Thanks guys

Checked for stones and there aren't any, or any gouges for that matter. Over winding the preload? Sounds like typical BMW excuses. It only winds down to a stop at the max setting so how are you supposed to wind it on further??? Cue silly explanations involving mole grips and lump hammers!!! What's the likelyhood of me getting an Ohlins replacement if i pay the extra over a BMW item?
