Had the 24k service done on my 2012 Rallye at Stroud Mc last week. What a great company, first time I've used them and would defiantly recommend them to anyone else. Only surprise I had was to find out the final drive oil looked like it had never been changed. Looked like treacle apparently, thanks NOG. :anger:

I'm not surprised.
The FD main seal on my TC failed at 29k miles. That's despite having been serviced by a BMW dealer at least once in my ownership anyway. I'm guessing the previous owner must have had it done at least once by them.
The oil looked like it was full of water when I drained it.
If this dealer changed it, that's a big positive.

The FD seals usually fail because there is an underlying bearing problem. If it's had just a new seal, expect it to fail again quite soon.

Luckily the final drive was OK. I bought the bike from new and its been serviced every year roughly 6k miles at NOG. This was the first time it had been to an independent dealer. As said Mike and Tim are top guys, Mike even phoned me Saturday to let me know there was an error fault showing on the exhaust valve sero that he had forgotten to tell me about. The valve has been removed anyway.

That's strange..... you'd have thought if a fault had been flashed up he'd have tried a reset on the exhaust valve adaptations and then checked/looked at the exhaust servo and seen that it had been removed... Just saying, :D

Are they set up to service LC's ?

Yep they will do any BM, to be honest they will service most anything but set up as BMW service specialists, they got all of the BMW tools etc from BVM when they packed in. Top draw servicing.

Mike changes the FD oil on every service. Top bloke, good to see them doing well after the collapse of BVM.

Never heard a bad word about these guys. I purchased my first BM last year and the first thing I done was take it straight over for a full service. I even popped over the other day with an RDC issue, Mike connected up his laptop and gave me some good advice.
Needless to say I will be back up later in the year for my next service.

Interesting- those chaps are what made BVM when it was still going. Do they have loaner bikes?

Yes - last time I was there they had a scooter and I think they have a K too.

Top guys - anything I can't cope with goes there and I also get clothing and other stuff from Tim.

Really helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

Passed by this morning so dropped in to speak to Tim and see what's what. Local independent ex-dealer staff, engineering-led and experienced servicing rather than flow-chart and fix-by-numbers. I suspect Stroud MC will be getting my custom from now on. :thumb2

I'm sure you'll notice a difference to the way your bike runs after the first service you get done by Mike!

A quick follow-up here. I booked my 1200GS in with Stroud Motorcycles and had a full service and arranged MOT done today. Utterly delighted with the service- Mike certainly knows BMWs and the bike is in fine fettle. I'm somewhat 'precious' about my bikes and Stroud MC have restored my faith that there are bike mechanics out there who know their stuff and have the engineering background to do a good job. Heartily recommend Stroud MC.
Rich.

This is heartening! Am just about to move to Stroud, so sounds like I'm in luck for service and repair!
