Stubby arrived this morning Bryn,Cheers .:thumb2

Have to get the cat down from the loft now.. :D

Having bought a stubby (cos I liked the look) what are the pros for this mod?

I currently have a y piece and Remus which works fine - and for 90% it's ok, as I don't have the ali panniers on. Why I do, it does tend to warm the contents!
As yet all extension are just way too ugly.

The y piece an remus give more "seat of the pants" mid range torque and was easier to ride two up at altitude (in the high passes in the Alps).
Getting rid of the cat seems like at least 15 kgs if not more ... !!

So going for the cat/stubby set up ... light exhaust comes off, bleeding' heavy cat goes back on ... but the days of ready cooked food in the pannier will be a thing of the past!!

Does anyone have any views on the pros and cons?

jefformston, ref. Exhaust stuck.

Spray with WD40 or similar, undo all clamps. Rotate & tug silencer to loosen off all the crap that accumulated between the silencer & cat

It has arrived

My stubby arrived this morning, thanks Bryn:thumb

Well i had to fit it, havent tried without the end can before so had to give it a go, went on nice and easy, took about fifteen minutes to fit after i gave the stubby (ooooer missus) a quick polish (nice and shiny know)

Started the bike up and the smile started, went for a ride and im still smiling, sounds nice without being to intrusive, didnt notice much difference in the power but who cares, sounds great

My advice to anyone is give it a go, quality great and all for just over twenty quid, cheaper than a night out with the missus:rolleyes:

Regards

GSGus:cool:

Bryn wot you going to do with your First Million:D nice bit of bling:thumb

Bryn. thanks a lot, mine arrived on Saturday and I fitted it today.

I had a bit of fun and games getting the old exhaust off despite having given it a liberal dose of WD40 overnight. The problem was the bolt on the old clamp. The blow torch came out but that failed as well so it was a hacksaw job in the end.

Anyway, I'm very pleased. I took it for a brief run and it sounds rather nice, a deep note but not a tiring sound. As to performance it's hard to judge but it was certainly running nicely and perhaps it did have a bitmore midrange. Always hard to tell whether that's psychological as a result of it sounding nicer. :thumb2

Glad you like it Derek :thumb My original exhaust virtually fell off when I went near it with a spanner :D Had a ride on mine today without the earplugs I normally wear... as you say, a nice deep note but at 60 couldn't even hear it....

Ride safe
