I never have any trouble with the indicators, on BM's or getting straight onto a jap bike.

But i do understand that there are people who have trouble controlling their saliva, and who can't walk and talk at the same time. Most of them have posted on this thread. :D

Steptoe, does it piss you of when they put both the hot and the cold tap into one and you can get any temperature water... :D  :beerjug:

. . .hang on, hang on, the man who has to sneer will be along shortly. . .

I wish I had your eloquence, Steptoe.......but agree 100%.........

I've had BMW bikes for 23 years ....some with 'conventional' indicator switches and others with the supremely logical left for left, right for right switches..... :thumb

Never hit the horn or kill switch by accident.....perhaps it's a knack......?

BTW, I think the self cancelling feature is great too........ :clap

Well done BMW!

Cheers

It's the other way round - getting the indicator when you are after the horn in a tight spot that seems to cause most trouble.

Mmmm......never get in tight spots.......

Forgot to mention that I've had he necessary surgery at a well know Bavarian clinic to enable me to reach each switch cleanly upon demand...... ;)

PM me for the Clinic's contact details & scale of charges.......

Cheers

Sounds interesting.............. remind me to ask you before you/I get too friendly with the contents of the beer pump. :beerjug:  :beerjug:

I reckon swapping the horn/turn cancel buttons' wiring around, together with the actual buttons - would make it a lot more logical.

Now - about my patent for a hand-operated gear change on top of the tank.................. :whatthefe

Cant say its a problem either way from jap to BM or the other way.

O yes wait a mo I have two thumbs and can multitask!!! Really can it be that difficult.

And if that’s the only thing that can be found to be wrong with a manufacturers product (see any press article or test report ) then perhaps we have the advantage by owning one.

Well strange on this

I was also concerned about this when buying the GS it too all of three turns to convince me that I was wrong to be concerned. What could be easier Right for Right Left for Left to swop just press the side of the direction required one switch to cancel. When I ride other bikes I have to keep checking that I have cancelled.

One of the plus points is I can now speed up to overtake and then cancel the signal with one hand on the throttle. Makes for lazy riding on slow A-roads. :D

Don't Hardly Dangerous use a slightly similar system?

I think they can cancel each indicator by another dab at the same switch, which, on the BMW would be good (as the indicator activation buttons are actually quite well placed) - The problem is the cancel button - it's sh*t. :eek

yes, the Hardly Movingsomes use a similar system where you activate and cancel on the same button. Right for right and left for left... this is obviously a requirement for the clientel who have bought such machinery. A single switch on the "wrong" bar would be far confusing....

:hide

but I agree... it's mainly the cancel switch that annoys me... still, single switch would be easiest and best...

Fired it into Google, which coughed up the following review:

"Sounds like the simple beeper-minder with parts from Radio Shack is the better way to go!"

So - differing opinions on that one (a la BMW switch system in general)

I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla ;)

I actually miss the BMW switches when I'm on my Triumph, but still find the cancel button to be a bit of a pain on the BM.

The idea worried me initialy, but now i think they make perfect sense and i actually prefer them.

Touratech do a widget that cancels each indicator with a double click of the original switch or a two second hold. Found it quite useful on motorways as you could hold the side you want, if held for more than 2 seconds, will cancel when you release.

In fact as I no longer need it, £10 to anyone, if I can find it.

Sorry about the sales pitch folks ;)

I have no problem with the indicators, it's the bloody horn that I can never find when I need it! :ymca
