I Know this might seam strange but I'm going to see some friends for a weekend in Aberdeen so will be traveling from Didcot.

Consider Train / Coach / Flight but they aren't cheep and hate public transport especially over that distance becasue of so many changes /pickup and drop off.
Would like to ride up on my Adventure but wondering how tired I'm going to be when I get there as I plan on going on a friday and coming back Monday and not riden that distance in one hit before.

Someone suggested I freight the bike nearer scotland and ride the rest which sounds ideal (cut out the boring 400 miles of motorway) but don't have a clue how to sort this or whether it possible...

Any suggestions???

400 miles will shoot by on that bike. Whilst you could only stop to fill up, taking a break every two hours makes it less of a slog and more of a connection of hops. Have a coffee, then a pee, then some food, then before you know it you're in Scotland :)

Exactly, and once you're across the border you'll be in God's riding country. Just get on the bike, point north and enjoy :oonyack

Thats just 400 motorway, that's the bit I want to rid of, it the next 150 in scotland that I want to enjoy...

hhhmm Sounds like 550 mile ride in one day then???

MMM butteries :drool

I can feel my arteries hardening up just at the thought of them, lovely.

So much to look forward to then :)

I think I'm going to ride but maybe spread it over 2 days, I really don't think I could cope with a 13 hour 550 mile hit in one sitting only to do it again 2 days later.

Must change my seat though, done 60,000 miles on this standards ADV one and can only cope with 2 hours max on it in one go before my arse turns to concreate :)

Many people did this for the GOTC a few weeks ago. Me and Popeye did 580 miles each way. Its really not that hard.

Blimey... the furthest I have riden in one day was 400 miles and that was with a couple of breaks and a comfy seat ....

Break a big problem down into manageable chunks.

Don't look at it as 500+ miles.

Look at it as several mini-trips of 100 miles each...and take each mini-trip as it comes. Give yourself a "treat" after each mini-trip.
