Alreet folks,

About to do a service on the 800, do I really need a sump crush washer?

If so, where's the best place to order one? Motorworks sell them, but £3.50 to send it to me seems madness.

Cheers! :beerjug:

Try the one you have, order a new one next time when you order the filter etc.It will almost certainly be ok to use as long as its not totally flat.

Well, I never replace them, but

If you are really desperate to reuse one that has gone hard, just heat the copper washer up red hot and drop it in cup of water.
1 fully annealed washer ready for reuse.

I run dozens of vehicles and some of them have had dozens of oil changes reusing the same washer. Sometimes I replace them, sometimes I don't. Depends how much of a rush I'm in and what washers I have "in stock". Never had any kind of leak.

Buy one with your next filter.

Worry less, ride more :thumb2

It isn't a crush washer per se, it is a simple copper washer. I gave up replacing them, never had a leak and never noticed the difference.
Personally, I think it simply gives a chance of some dealers to cheat their customers. Like the "shop supplies" line that sometimes can run above $10 US for paper towel, gasket cement, and some contact cleaner.

Apply a little bit of blue RTV on both sides of the washer and install.

Whilst I agree that any copper washer can re annealled, and it's perfectly safe to do so. Are we really trying to save .92p. That's how much it was last week when I bought one.

I've worked on all sorts of motorised vehicles. I really don't recall having had a leak because a sump washer wasn't changed. I won't be loosing sleep over this .
