Not impressed with the amount of sheckles some companies are asking for sump guards for the F8GS, so I decided to have a crack at making one myself out of some gash alloy plate I had lying around.
Using the same mounting points as the plastic one that comes with the bike, I made up a cardboard former, cut the alloy to match the former, then set about cutting, drilling and bending till I got the blighter to fit.
Here is the result:-

The whole outside of the guard is covered in reflective tape, hopefully helping to get cage drivers attention in the darker hours.

Not a bad afternoons bodgeing if I say so myself.

Excellent, my motors gone up in value since I bought it just 2 months ago :thumb
Must be the high quality of the accessories I've fitted/made for it :D

So what are you going to knock them out at? I'm interested
Sorry dude, but I'm into making things up for my own machines only :comfort. Wouldn't impose my "crapmanship" onto anyone else's machine.
I'm more of a "Fix it & Bodge it" kinda guy, rather than a " Fettle & Flog-it" type :D

Trawling my favourites I was reminded that I had an interesting video of a Aluminum welding rod called 'Durafix'.

If you wanted to strengthen the hinged/fold part's, you might try this out!

Have you used this stuff? Can it really be that easy?
