Sunday coming is the last Sunday in the month.

Which means that the BMW Club have a Lunch Meeting at the Tibbie Shiels Inn, St. Mary's Loch, Moffat at 12:30.

I know we only went there a couple of weeks back - but is anyone interested in another short run ?

I'm sure Stumpy wants to run in his Tenere :D

(Let the Pish Taking begin . . . . . :augie).

Bob.

I believe the "other" club will be at st mary's loch at the same time:augie

Bob.

You may not find anybody at Tibbie Shiels on Sunday.

The BMWC lunch meet is now at the Glen Cafe & Bistro, St. Marys Loch, which, I believe, is the cafe at the TS road end. Location was changed, at members request, at the AGM.

Ron

That will be the BMWC AGM where there was no agenda circulated in advance, no Minutes published on the website, and the Club magazine still lists Tibbies as the venue. Great communication with members

If I had even known that the choice of southern venue was to be discussed I would have made a few suggestions.

'Great communication with members '

aye my feelings too. And pity them - the old stalwarts who 'made' the club and who dinna' hae internet communication.
The club has well and truly lost its way.
Even down to making venue date decisions to please them down souf.
Make nae winder the members are dwindlin' awa' .
Hell dinna get me started........:censor::soapbox:

But . . Will you be at St. Mary's Loch on Sunday ?

it's a bad day indeed for The BMW Club Scottish section :rob:rob:rob

:admin is what we need someone wae balls but mair so a business accumen :homertae tak ower the big chair an run it fir us :Duchess.:soapbox:
noo whaur is the number fir that wee german laddie :augie

Dinna get me started either Alan. You may have noted that the website has changed and is published sarf of the border.

Not sure I understand what you mean by the 'website' being published down south? The BMWC Scottish section seems to receive very little in the way of posts however there is nothing to stop any Member posting. However comparing the the numbers of posts on the Scottish sections of UKGSer vs BMWC it is fairly apparent that there are big differences in the social scene and craic.

BMWC just does not seem to appreciate the power, immediacy and general accessibility of internet Forums to many users and persists with the expense & trouble of a monthly Journal; how 20th century  Interesting that the Scottish moderator is Dick Boyd and his use of the system is so low, however some of the other Moderators are not much better.

get real man, still not everyone especially the older members do not have/want internet. And they are they folk who made this club what it was.The numbers of these members are falling continually for various reasons but these lads and lasses too have a lot of history to tell and created something for us to 'enjoy'.
The magazine is all they have from the club for info and often that info is in retrospect of the event.
Yer right tho' maybe this is not the place to air these thoughts :topic.
Think i'll bin ma' bikes and resort to ma' bus pass

We're speaking about the website here, not the forum. It's a waste of time, as was the website, hence the reason I gave it up and it's now gorn darn sarf.
Members should take a look at this forum to see how a "proper" forum runs. Maybe they'd then take their heids oot o' their erses and use it more (IMHO):augie

However, the BMWC's a different animal to UKGS'er, so I will say no more (maybe).

Seems there's more posts here than in the BMWC Scottish Section site all year :augie

I'm meeting Stumpy at the Glen Cafe on Sunday.

Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Bob.

Mad Fool's Day Out:

Well, I made it to the Glen Cafe.

It was bright and a bit chilly when I left home so I opted for heated gloves, three layers of thermals and my heaviest winter jacket . . .

I cut across to Uphall, Bathgate and on to Forth - where I met hoar frost and freezing fog.

I crossed the Hyndford bridge and then had to stop on the A73 near Covington as I couldn't see a thing. My visor was frozen solid and I was having to scrape the ice off my glasses as I rode

The sun poked through briefly as I stopped in a Lay-bye:

I continued on towards Abington Services. The sun came out again so I stopped to clear my glasses and visor (again):

Picturesque, isn't it :D

From Abington I took the B7076 to Greenhill Stairs (B719) - There was a lot of frost and Ice on the road.

Then I went North on the A701 to Tweedsdale and over the 'C' road past Talla and Megget Reservoirs.

The road past Talla wasn't too bad - apart from the occasional frozen run-off (behave yourselves :toungincheek).

However, the climb after passing Megget was iced up and slippery - I was getting wheelspin on the climb

I had to stop for a frozen run-off of my own ;)

I made it safely to the Glen Cafe where I met Cunning Fox and AndyCam. Before we could go inside we were approached by a lady who had backed her car into a ditch and was stuck . . Tossers in shining armour to the rescue.

DSCN3445.jpg

We were unable to push the car out (that's sheet ice on the road !), so enlisted another couple with a car and a tow rope - job done :thumb2

Back at the Cafe I was approached by a Gentleman in a BMW jacket driving a new-style VW Beetle. He had been waiting at Tibbie Shiels since 12:30 but hadn't seen any BMW Club members :augie. I explained that it looks as though the Glen Cafe is the new venue and that I was the sole representative :blast

By now it was about 14:30 !

Inside the Cafe I met Tracey (Cunning Fox's better half), 'The Stimulator' and another Gentleman whose name I didn't catch (very nice 1100 GS though :thumb2).

My camera lens steamed up in the Cafe and this is the best of a bad bunch of pics.

DSCN3449.jpg

As the sun was going down fast (along with the temperature) we didn't stay long. Nice views outside with GS' in the foreground (no other type of bike seen all day :thumb2).

Time to leave and the bikes were warmed up.

DSCN3456A.jpg

Cunning Fox was heading East to Peebles . . . .

DSCN3460A.jpg

Closely followed by Tracey.

DSCN3461A.jpg

The remaining three went West to Moffat (I followed them a few minutes later). The GS Club were staying at The Buccleuch Arms Hotel, so they didn't have far to go.

DSCN3463A.jpg

Moffat was mobbed - there seemed to be a Fair on, with rides and so on. Something to do with it being St. Andrew's Day I suspect :thumb2

I retraced my path to Kirkliston, heading for Carnwath and the 'Lang Wang'. It was dark by the time I got home and I can't remember when I was last as cold as that .

I was shaking all over so dumped the unwashed bike in the garage and went straight into a hot bath, then sat in front of the log fire and watched Top Gear :D.

I'll wash the bike tomorrow.

Hopefully it won't be so cold next Saturday - but next time I'll have my heated vest on :clap.

Good to meet up with you guys (and girl), hope you all got home safely.

Bob.

I genuflect to all who turned up....................
