That was the plan: spending the afternoon on some easy trails that could be done "on Tourances and 2-up" (quote Loz...
) and then gathering for a BBQ at Berin Mansion afterwards.
Berin and his far better half Jane - well geared up and eager to go on their first trails since the Pyrenees
Unfortunately, Berin's bike started to leak oil after only a few miles...
Jane kindly volunteered to escort him home safely and make sure that the BBQ was up and running when we would return...
Half an hour late(r) Possu and I arrived at Chieveley Services, where Jim Elderfield, Loz, Desert Rat and Clive were already waiting for us...
Our portable trail encyclopaedia Clive showed us some lovely Hampshire lanes. These panniers...
Rolling hills and lush valleys
Not bad a view either - Possu on his latest toy
Bit slow off the mark shutting the gate...
Loz staring at the latest TRO on the Wayfarer's Walk in disbelief (from 11 Feb for 6 months)
We'd rather take the other rut...
Beautiful little track...
... with a few surprises...
Possu is not only a good rut and mud depth gauge - I also enjoy looking at his bum...
Jim taking the easy option on his road tyres
Loz showing how much the Adv should be lowered...
We then decided to stick to the tarmac to make it back to Berin Mansion on time
You might need a bigger skewer, Jim...
Possu courting his future customer base...
After dinner Clive was taking the chair apart...
Berin enjoying the good life
... as we all did - nobody really wanted to leave in the evening, not even Henna
What a wonderful day!
Big thanks to Clive for leading us on the trails and Jane and Berin for their hospitality - we will definitely call again.
