If anyone fancies joining myself and Carcher2k for a bit of gentle trail riding on GSs, post below :)

Our plan is to meet at The Hand Hotel in Llangollen at 10 am on Sunday 28th. I haven't planned a route yet (!) but it'll probably be 4-5 hours long, taking in a mixture of tiny roads with grass up the middle and gentle green lanes - suitable for newbie trail riders but probably not first timers. If the weather is bad I'll try and avoid potential mud baths :)

This is going to be my first attempt at leading a trail rideout, so I'd rather keep the numbers down, although I doubt there'll be a massive rush :)

Practical points:

- bring a packed lunch of some sort.
- top up with petrol before you arrive, I can't remember if there's a petrol station in Llangollen.
- even though it'll only be gentle lanes, some armoured gear is advisable.
- road tyres should be ok, unless the weather is really bad.

Cheers :beerjug:

Bugger! Would love to join you, but it's my turn with the kids that weekend, and we are off to the South coast again. Timing..... never was my strong point :(

I guess you can get away with that Brassmonkey  :D

Mikey D may be planning a ride out on Sep 10th over on the 650 site, so keep your eyes peeled over there if you fancy another run out.

yeah me too, had to batter the bike straight after a wet session on the ridgeway last night :o

However, I am having TCK80's fitted tomorrow, so more grip than the 2mm on the Anakees

Hi,
Could you put up with a 400CCM joining you tomorrow? What sort of road mileage do you plan? I have just changed my GS for a brand new Dakar which as yet has only about 100 miles on the clock so still trying to run it in.
The CCM is best off road but geared down so 60mph cruise and a B hard seat not the best for distance.
If your run is still on could you call me on 07774442823 as I won't be able to pick any messages up again this weekend.

Thanks, Andy

The route I have planned is about 100 miles round trip (starting and finishing in Llangollen), about half of it will be tarmac, but only small B roads - lack of top speed will not be an issue :)

I think you should bring your Dakar, Andy :)

But anyway I'll give you a call later today. In case you read this and want to call me, and for anyone else, my mobile number is 07870 294487.

We may have another guy on a 650 coming up as well, so that could be four of us :)

And i now have my nice shiney tkc80's (which probably won't be after tomorrow :D )

see ya in the morning

:beerjug:

Thanks for coming along guys :)

I learnt something about planning a lane ride, next time there will hopefully be less tarmac, I think I tried to cover too wide an area this time. Still, it was all good fun :)

Some more pics.

..IT WASN'T!

Carcher "sailed" through like a duck on water..
I lost it big time when this wave washed over me and.. and.. two wet feet!
Mouse, well,... more wet feet!

Thanks Mouse for a great day out and my first taste of Welsh trailing. Hope you got that big 1200 "Mud Magnet" washed off and look forward to the next run out.

Andy, I tried to PM you but you're not a sponsor :)

If you want the full set of pics I took on the day, drop me an email: [email protected]

Cheers :)

Oh by the way, the only time I've ever made it through that ford without getting my feet wet, I was by myself! Honest :D
